Originally I wanted to do a classical portrait with the hood ( I wanted to capture the fur and paint a modern version of a dutch classical painting ‘with fur collar ‘ ) As she posed she kept using her phone and the blue light that kicked up illuminated her face in such a dramatic way I had to paint it. The hood acted like a baffle, making her seem quite ghostly.
